It’s been another eventful week here at Che Shit Show. Not all bad but not all good either. But still, we’re ok. Breathing. Healthy. Managing.

Earlier in the week I took Mr. Rugby for his pre-op appointments at the hospital and doctor’s office. Finally got to meet the guy who’ll be screwing around with my kid’s spine. God, it was so much less stressful when they were little and I made these decisions. Here it is, the eleventh hour and, though I know the doctor’s name and have Googled him like a crazy ex-girlfriend, I still needed to meet him. I had to hear what my gut would say when I did.

Good news. Gut was (is) happy.

The surgery is tomorrow, the 24th. We have to be at the hospital at 5:45 a.m. Have I mentioned it’s an hour away? It is. Good times. The surgery is at 7 a.m. give or take whatever last minute “things” come up. Prayers for the doctor, his team, and Mr. Rugby welcome.

On that note, yes, the $40K fee was frightening. But Rob and I figured it out, moved some savings around, and got it covered. We’ll see what insurance covers but at least we can go in knowing we’re good.

And, while we were setting ourselves up to be good, we moved some extra dinero around to pay off Mr. Lucky’s car. The kid makes no money and has several big bills to handle every…
